A GUIDEBOOK TO THE BCWS BURN PLAN TEMPLATE

I developed and am sharing this burn plan guidance document with everyone; you're welcome.

It’s free because I genuinely want to support better burning across the province. My goal is to help more people create well thought-out, simple, and concise burn plans that are easy to use in the field. Always check for legislative updates.

A solid plan doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to be clear, practical, and grounded in good fire knowledge. If this guide helps even a few teams feel more confident and better prepared, then it’s done its job.

BURN COMPLEXITY RATING

This version keeps the complexity analysis to one page.

Step 1: Use this workseet to determine the burn complexity for your project by adding up the score for each element.

Step 2: Save your work and paste an image of the worksheet to the burn plan under the heading of your burn complexity analysis.
