I support communities, First Nations, and governments to design and deliver effective prescribed fire projects, grounded in ecology, training, and cultural respect.

Below are some of the projects I’ve been trusted to continue to lead or support: from community burns and fuel management to training and fire effects monitoring.

  • Wildfire burning in a forested area near residential houses, with smoke and flames visible among trees and dry brush.

    Community-Led Burns

Developed burn plans and provided hands-on mentorship to support community-led prescribed fire initiatives. From planning through ignition, I worked closely with local crews to build capacity and ensure safe, culturally respectful burns. As a consultant, I have led 15 burns as a Burn Boss since 2022 and supported five as FEMO or FIRB. I have been involved with many more while working for governments.

  • A classroom or conference room filled with people seated at tables, listening to a woman giving a presentation. The presentation slide on the screen reads 'Fire Behavior Characteristics' and includes bullet points about changes in fire behavior, with a background image of a wildfire.

    Training and Certification

I delivered practical, scenario-based training to fire departments, Nations, and land managers across BC and Alberta. From intermediate fire behaviour and fire effects monitoring to ignition and firing operations. Focus is on real-world application, collaborative learning, and building confident burn teams.

    Ecosystem Restoration

I wrote Ecosystem Restoration Prescriptions and Burn Plans to guide the use of prescribed fire as a tool for restoring ecological function and resilience. Projects included goals to reduce invasive species, promote native plant regeneration, and enhance habitat conditions across a fire-adapted landscape.
